- Cacao powder. 2 tbsp of cacao powder. You can sub with cocoa powder.
- Maple syrup. 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup depending on how sweet you want it. You can sub with honey.
- Collagen. 1 scoop of collagen powder for added protein.
- Peppermint oil. Dash of peppermint oil to give it a chocolate peppermint flavor. Feel free to omit.

This hot chocolate sounds a bit strange, but it’s delicious and has become a nightly ritual! It’s not too sweet, really creamy, and is just so comforting!

Bone broth in hot chocolate? I know what you’re thinking. You wouldn’t even have guessed it if you tried it unknowingly. If you care about your health and want something warm and sweet before bed, THIS is a must try. It took one batch and I was hooked and shared it with everyone I know who cares about their health. If you prefer it sweeter, just add an extra splash of maple, if you want it to be a bit more creamy, really make sure you get all the fat in there from the coconut cream or milk. My Girlfriend and I make this at least once a week, and it’s a perfect guilt-free treat that pairs well with early morning reading, or an evening by the fire.

Love this recipe! I actually use raw dairy (whole milk) instead of coconut milk, and I do dates blended up for a sweetener (maple syrup is an easy one if you don’t have a blender), but this is def a great recipe that kids will love (and adults too ?). Hi there! Could you make a big batch and keep it in the fridge to reheat throughout the week?
Hi Erin, I’ve never tried making a big batch to reheat throughout the week so I can’t say for sure how it will hold! But you could try doubling the recipe and reheat a day or two later to see how it does. If it holds well then I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to make a bigger batch!
Is there a peppermint oil you recommend? Is it just peppermint extract?
Hi Nicole, I just use pure peppermint extract!
I have been making this almost every night and I absolutely love it ?
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m happy you’ve been loving this bone broth hot cocoa(:
