5 Hacks for Blood Sugar Balance
Balancing blood sugar is one of the most important things you can do for your health no matter what your goals may be. Ever since I started focusing on balancing my blood sugar I no longer crash mid day, have sugar cravings, get headaches, and so much more.
Here are so simple & easy hacks you can start doing now!
Movement- 10 minutes of movement after a meal signals to your muscles to soak up the glucose in your bloodstream and use it as energy. My fiance and I call our post meal walks glucose walks.
ACV- 1 tbsp of vinegar before a meal allows your muscles to soak up glucose faster and your cells burn more fat, reducing glucose spikes.
Veggie Starter- Having veggies at the beginning of a meal helps to slow down the absorption of carbohydrates into your body reducing a blood sugar spike. Having a salad before your meal or even just starting with the veggies on your plate. The order with with you eat also makes a difference, start with your veggies and then move onto protein and carbs.
No Naked Carbs- Instead of eating a carb on its own, put some clothes on it. Have an apple with almond butter. Having protein, fat and fiber along with the carb helps to slow the speed at which you absorb glucose.
Dessert over a sweet snack- Instead of having a sweet snack on an empty stomach have it after a well balanced meal. You do not need to cut out sweets but be strategic on when you eat them. Having a balanced meal before helps to reduce the sugar spike.
