This creamy butternut squash pasta with spicy sausage and fresh sage is a fall dish you’re going to want to make. What You Need to Make This Butternut Squash Pasta
- Butternut squash: Roasted butternut squash is the base of the sauce and adds so much flavor.
- Organic Grass-Fed Kefir: By using Lifeway Organic-Grass fed kefir it makes the sauce 99% lactose free!
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: The olive oil is used to roasted the butternut squash. Feel free to swap with avocado oil.
- Paprika: This adds a slight kick to the recipe without being overwhelming.
- Salt & Pepper: Feel free to play around with quantities to get your desired taste.
- Spicy Italian Sausage: The spicy Italian sausage paired with the sweetness of butternut squash adds great contrast to the flavor in this dish.
- Sage: The fresh sage adds an earthy, vibrant flavor.
- Brown Rice Pasta: Brown rice pasta is my favorite because it is naturally gluten free and adds in a little bit of protein. Choose your favorite noodle shape, I usually do fusilli or penne.

Butternut Squash Pasta with Spicy Sausage & Sage
This creamy butternut squash pasta with spicy sausage and fresh sage is the perfect cozy fall dish! Plus the sauce is made with roasted butternut squash and @lifewaykefir Organic Grass-fed kefir making it incredibly nutrient dense and great for your gut!
Ingredients
- 1 butternut squash, peeled and cubed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 box brown rice pasta
- 1 lb ground spicy Italian sausage
- ½ cup @lifeway kefir
- fresh sage
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425. Season butternut squash with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake for 40-45 minutes. You want it to be tender.
- In a skillet, add a little bit of oil and heat to medium, high heat. Add sausage and cook for about 5-7, breaking up, until browned. Drain grease and set aside.
- Add butternut squash, kefir, salt, and paprika to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
- In a large bowl, add sauce to pasta and mix until fully coated. Add sausage and fresh sage. Enjoy!
