Fig and Cheese Toast
This caramelized fig toast with @Lifewaykefir farmers cheese is the perfect way to use up those seasonal figs! The farmers cheese is so creamy and packed with protein, the caramelized figs and honey add the perfect amount of sweetness and the flakey salt truly rounds it all out. You have to give it a try.

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Butter. Butter is used to caramelize the figs.
- Figs. I used black figs, but any figs work.
- Farmers cheese. Lifeway Kefir’s farmers cheese is my favorite cheese to use but you can also use goat cheese.
- Raw honey. Raw local honey lightly sweetens the toast.
- Sourdough. I like using homemade sourdough but you can use any bread you’d like.
- Salt. Big flakey salt adds a little crunch and a salty flavor to the toast.
How to Make this Fig and Cheese Toast
Step 1
Caramelize the figs. Heat 3 tbsp of butter in a skillet over a medium low heat. Once butter is melted, add figs. Cooking for about 2-3 minutes on one side then flipping and do the same on the other side.
Step 2
Assemble the fig and cheese toast. Add farmers cheese to the toast then top with caramelized figs, honey, and flakey salt. Enjoy!

Expert Tips
- Make sure you add enough butter to the skillet, cook slowly add a low temperature for the perfect caramelized figs.
- Using farmers cheese adds 15 grams of protein per serving!
- For the best toast, serve right away. The figs and toast should still be warm.

- 3-4 large figs, halved
- 2-4 oz farmers cheese
- 1 slice sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- dash flakey salt, to taste
