How to Make these Ground Lamb Bowls
Step 1
Make the kefir tzatziki. Add the greek yogurt, kefir, cucumbers, garlic, and fresh mint to a bowl. Mix until fully combined. Place in the fridge to chill until you are ready to serve the ground lamb bowls.
Step 2
Make the meat mixture. Add beef, seasonings, and onion to a bowl and mix with your hands until fully incorporated.
Step 3
Cook the meat. Heat a large cast iron skillet with olive oil over a medium high heat. Once the skillet is hot, start adding in chunks of the meat. You don’t need to form them, just drop spoonfuls into the pan. Cook undisturbed until charred and crispy on the underside, about 6-8 minutes, then flip and do the same on the other side.
Step 4
Add in walnuts and raisins. Using a wooden spoon, break up the big pieces of meat. Add in walnuts and raisins and lightly toast in the pan with the meat, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 5
Serve and enjoy! Remove the tzatziki from the fridge and the meat from the stovetop. Add a large helping of the kefir tzatziki to plate then add meat mixture on top of it. Serve with a side of basmati or jasmine rice. Top with fresh mint. Enjoy!

Expert Tips
- I prefer to make this recipe with lamb but if you aren’t a fan of lamb you can sub it with beef.
- Make sure you are using full fat greek yogurt for the tzatziki. This adds flavor and is thicker than a low-fat version. It is also more nutrient dense!
- By adding kefir to the tzatziki you are giving it a boost of probiotics to keep your gut happy.
- To add even more protein to this meal, cook the rice in bone broth instead of water.
- Make sure you use a cast iron or heavy bottom pan when cooking the meat.
Yes they are naturally gluten free!
Serve with warm basmati rice and fresh mint. You can also serve with warm pita bread!
If you don’t like lamb you can easily swap it for ground beef! Choose a beef with a higher fat content if possible.
Store yogurt in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Store the meat mixture in a separate airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
