Ingredients & Substitutions
Kefir Ice Cream
- Organic Kefir. Organic plain whole milk kefir is needed for this berry crisp with kefir ice cream.
- Whole milk. 3/4 cup of whole milk is needed.
- Maple syrup. 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup or honey is used to sweeten the ice cream.
- Vanilla extract. 1 tsp of vanilla extract to give the delicious vanilla flavor.
Berry Crisp
- Berries. You will need 3 cups of fresh berries. I used blueberries and cherries.
- Cane Sugar. Cane sugar sweetens the berry filling.
- Lemon. You need the juice from 1/2 lemon.
- All purpose gf flour. Gluten free 1 to 1 baking flour, I love Bob’s Red Mill. You can also use normal all purpose flour if you are not gluten free.
- Butter. 1/4 cup of butter, softened.
- Rolled Oats. 3/4 cup of rolled oats. You can use rolled or quick oats.
- Brown Sugar. Brown sugar adds incredible flavor and sweetness to the crisp topping.
- Cinnamon. Dash of cinnamon is used in the topping.

How to Make this Berry Crisp with Kefir Ice Cream
Kefir Ice Cream
Step 1
Make the ice cream base. In a medium sized bowl, add kefir, whole milk, vanilla, and maple syrup. Mix until fully combined. Pour into the ninja creami pint container. Place in the fridge to set for at least 8 hours.
Step 2
Make the ice cream. Follow instructions on the ninja creami to make scoopable vanilla ice cream. Serve over warm berry crisp.

Step 1
Make berry mixture. Preheat oven to 375. Coat a ceramic baking dish with butter. Add berries, lemon juice, flour, and cane sugar to a bowl and mix until berries are fully coated.
Step 2
Make the crisp topping. Add oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter into a separate bowl and use your hands to combine. It will be crumbly.
Step 3
Assemble and Bake. Add berry mixture to prepared baking dish. Top evenly with crisp streusel topping. Place in the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes.
